What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the low-pressure fuel pressure with the highest permitted value while the engine runs. The fault code is set when the pressure sits too far above the target value. A low fuel level, a clogged high-pressure pump, a blocked inlet check valve, or air in the system can be behind it.
Possible causes
- Fuel level in the tank is low
- Clogged high-pressure pump
- Blocked check valve in the inlet pipe
- Air in the fuel system
What you can do
- 1Look at the fuel gauge and top up the tank if the level is low
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel pressure in live data with the engine running and see whether it is too high compared with the target value
- 3Have a workshop check the high-pressure pump if the fault returns
- 4Have a workshop check the check valve in the inlet pipe if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice4
- The engine does not start, it only cranks
- The engine can stall at idle or while driving
- The car loses power when pulling away from a standstill
- Uneven idle
