What does this fault code mean?
This fault code concerns the fuel pressure control valve, which regulates the fuel pressure. It is set when the control module detects that the signal to the valve is unreasonable or incorrect. In some operating modes, for example with a cold engine, the valve alone controls the fuel pressure.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit or short circuit in the wires to the valve
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
- A fault inside the engine control module (ECM) itself
What you can do
- 1Check the connector at the fuel pressure control valve for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the valve has no open circuit and is not shorted to ground
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the valve receives supply voltage with the ignition on
- 4Have a workshop measure the valve resistance and check the control module if none of this gives a result
Symptoms you may notice4
- The engine does not start, and no clicking is heard during start attempts
- The engine is hard to start or does not start at all
- Uneven idle
- The engine can stall at idle with the A/C on
What the fault can affect1
- The fuel pump is controlled using a calculated value instead of the measured one
