What does this fault code mean?
This fault code concerns the control signal for the fuel pressure valve, which is set when that signal is unreasonable or incorrect. In some operating modes, for example with a cold engine, the fuel pressure is controlled by this valve alone. The fault can lie in the connectors, the wiring, the valve itself or the control module.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Open circuit or short circuit in the wires
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
- A fault inside the engine control module (ECM) itself
What you can do
- 1Look at the connector at the fuel pressure control valve: it should be secure, clean and dry
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the valve is not shorted to ground, with the ignition on
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wires have no open circuit
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the fuel pressure control valve with the engine running and see whether it responds
- 5Have a workshop check the control module if the fault returns after the wiring and connectors have been checked
Symptoms you may notice4
- The engine can stall at idle, including with the A/C on
- The engine can stall while driving, at any time
- Uneven idle
- A text message and a warning symbol appear in the display
What the fault can affect1
- The fuel pump is controlled using a calculated value instead of the measured one
