What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) monitors the reading from the air temperature sensor built into the boost pressure sensor, located between the turbocharger and the throttle unit. The fault code is set when the signal is too high. The control module then uses the value from the air temperature sensor in the intake manifold instead.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged air temperature sensor, built into the boost pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the air temperature sensor is not shorted to voltage, with the ignition off
- 2Check the boost pressure sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the two intake air temperature readings in live data with the engine cold
- 4Have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor if the fault returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine lamp (MIL) lights up
What the fault can affect2
- The control module uses the value from the intake manifold air temperature sensor instead
- Fuel adaptation is blocked
