What does this fault code mean?
The boost pressure sensor measures both air pressure and air temperature. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the temperature signal and sets the fault code when it falls outside a set limit. A calculated air temperature value is then used instead of the measured one.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose connection in the connector
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged temperature sensor in the boost pressure sensor (TMAP)
- Damaged boost pressure sensor (TMAP)
What you can do
- 1Check the boost pressure sensor connector for oxidation and loose connections
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no open circuit, with the connector disconnected
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the air temperature from the boost pressure sensor in live data with the engine running and compare it with the outside temperature
- 4Have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor if the fault returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The engine control module uses a calculated air temperature value instead of the measured one
