What does this fault code mean?
This fault code is set when the temperature signal from the boost pressure sensor does not change after a period of driving, which suggests the signal is stuck. The control module then sets the air temperature between the turbo and the throttle equal to the mass air flow sensor value.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connector
- Damaged air temperature sensor, built into the boost pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the boost pressure sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the temperature from the boost pressure sensor in live data while driving and see whether it changes
- 3Look for damage to the cable at the sensor
- 4Have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor if the temperature still does not change
Symptoms you may notice3
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs jerkily while driving
- The car lacks power
- Check engine lamp (MIL) lights up
What the fault can affect1
- The air temperature between the turbo and the throttle is set equal to the mass air flow sensor value
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
