What does this fault code mean?
This fault code concerns the intake air temperature sensor at the inlet. It is set when its signal is too low or too high. The cause can be an open circuit, a short circuit or poor contact in the signal wire, or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged air temperature sensor at the inlet
- Loose connection, contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Check the connections at the inlet air temperature sensor for contact resistance, looseness and oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no open circuit or short to ground
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no voltage with the ignition off
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the signal from the air temperature sensor in the intake pipe and check that the value is reasonable
- 5Have a workshop check the sensor if the wiring is in order
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine lamp (MIL) lights up
