What does this fault code mean?
This fault code concerns a temperature reading from the boost pressure sensor with a signal that is too high. The control module cannot rely on the intake air temperature, which can affect exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and the burning of soot particles.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged boost pressure sensor (TMAP)
- Damaged air temperature sensor at the inlet
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connector
What you can do
- 1Make sure the connector at the boost pressure sensor is secure and dry
- 2Use a multimeter, with the ignition on, to check that the signal wire is not shorted to voltage
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the boost pressure sensor temperature with the mass air flow sensor value in live data with the engine running
- 4Have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine lamp (MIL) lights up
What the fault can affect3
- A calculated value is used for the intake air temperature
- Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is not controlled
- Soot particles are not burned off
