What does this fault code mean?
This fault code concerns the reading of the intake air temperature sensor at the inlet, which is either too low or too high. It can come from a short to voltage, an open circuit or a damaged sensor, but also from poor contact.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Contact resistance, oxidation or looseness in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged air temperature sensor at the inlet
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not shorted to ground
- 2Look for loose connections and oxidation at the sensor
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the sensor value in live data and check that it is reasonable for the intake air
- 4Have a workshop check the sensor if the wiring is in order
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine lamp (MIL) lights up
