What does this fault code mean?
This fault code concerns an irregular or intermittent signal from the intake air temperature sensor. The temperature is measured in the boost pressure sensor, which sits on the intake pipe after the throttle unit. The fault can affect exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and the burning of soot particles.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connector
- Open or short circuit in the wires
- Damaged boost pressure sensor (TMAP)
What you can do
- 1Check the boost pressure sensor connector for oxidation and contact resistance
- 2Look for chafed or pinched wiring from the boost pressure sensor
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the intake air temperature in live data with the engine running and see whether the value jumps
- 4Have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor if the fault returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine lamp (MIL) lights up
What the fault can affect2
- Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is not controlled
- Soot particles are not burned off
