What does this fault code mean?
The ECM tracks where the compressor bypass valve sits and compares that actual position with the requested value. The code is stored when the difference between them is too large, while the engine is running and compressor control is active. The result is reduced performance at low engine speeds.
Possible causes
- Compressor bypass valve is sticking or has jammed
- Compressor bypass valve is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Look for dirt or sticking at the bypass valve
- 3Check that the wiring to the valve is intact and that the connector is fully engaged
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the valve position in live data and compare it with throttle input; the position should follow the throttle smoothly
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the bypass valve
Symptoms you may notice3
- The engine lacks power and runs poorly
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly, especially when slowing down
- Text message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Performance drops at low engine speeds
