What does this fault code mean?
The ECM compares the filtered signals from the two air pressure and air temperature sensors with the reading from the module's own barometric pressure sensor. The code is stored when the difference between them is too large, and The turbo control is switched off, and the control module uses a modelled replacement value for boost pressure.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or corrosion in the connector terminals
- Air pressure and air temperature sensor 1 has failed
- Barometric pressure sensor is damaged
- Air pressure and air temperature sensor 2 has failed
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connectors at the air pressure and air temperature sensors: they should be fully seated and free from corrosion
- 3Look for visible damage to the sensors and their wiring
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the sensor values in live data at idle and check that they are close to each other
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the sensors and the barometric pressure sensor in the control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- The engine lacks power and runs poorly
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly during acceleration, deceleration or steady speed
- The engine does not always start as it should
What the fault can affect2
- Turbo control is switched off
- The control module uses a modelled replacement value for boost pressure instead of the sensor signal
