What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks the signal ground to the mass air flow sensor and stores the code when it is incorrect. This fault means the current in the circuit is higher than allowed. The cause given is contact resistance, corrosion or loose contact in the connector terminals.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, corrosion or loose contact in the connector terminals
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connector terminals at the mass air flow sensor are fully engaged and free from corrosion
- 3Gently pull on the connector to make sure the terminals are not loose
- 4Look for chafed wiring near the mass air flow sensor
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the mass air flow sensor and its connections
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine warning lamp (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally
