What does this fault code mean?
The ECM continuously checks that the mass air flow sensor signal is plausible. The code is stored when the signal is wrong, and the fault here is a voltage that is too high. A fault on the swirl flap can also cause the code to be set. The results are that engine torque may be limited and a calculated air mass value is used.
Possible causes
- If this code is set together with ECM-P029900, the cause is probably a leak in the hose or joint between the turbocharger and the intake valves
- Camshaft in the wrong position
- Damaged mass air flow sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Look for leaks: cracked hoses and loose clamps on the hoses and joints between the turbocharger and the intake pipe
- 3Check that the connector at the mass air flow sensor is fully engaged and free from corrosion
- 4With a multimeter, check that the signal wire to the sensor is not shorted to supply voltage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the camshaft position and the mass air flow sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The car lacks power and runs poorly
What the fault can affect2
- Engine torque may be limited
- The control module uses a calculated air mass value in place of the sensor signal
