What does this fault code mean?
The ECM measures the intake pressure with an air pressure sensor and compares the reading with a calculated model. The code is stored when the sensor reading strays too far from the model, or when the boost pressure does not agree with atmospheric pressure at ignition on. The fault may light the eco lamp.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connector terminals and connections
- Incorrect hose connection or air leak in the intake system
- Air pressure sensor in the intake pipe is damaged
- EGR valve stuck in the open position
- Boost pressure sensor (MAP) is damaged
- Atmospheric pressure sensor is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the hoses on the intake pipe for leaks and damage
- 3Check that the connector at the intake pressure sensor sits firmly and is free from oxidation
- 4Look for soot and dirt on the EGR valve, since a valve stuck open can cause this fault
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, with the ignition on compare the intake pressure with atmospheric pressure in live data
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the sensors and the EGR valve

- Engine warning lamp (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally

- The signal from the intake pressure sensor is held at a fixed value
- Load and air flow are calculated without the intake pressure sensor signal
- Calculated boost pressure is used
