What does this fault code mean?
The ECM measures the intake pressure with an air pressure sensor and checks the sensor reading against a constant value. The code is stored when the reading differs too much, which in this case means the signal is too low. The fault may come from contact resistance, a faulty hose connection or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connector terminal
- Incorrect hose connection
- Air pressure sensor in the intake pipe is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the hoses on the intake pipe are correctly fitted and not leaking
- 3Check that the connector at the air pressure sensor is fully engaged and free from oxidation
- 4Look for damage to the air pressure sensor in the intake pipe
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, read the intake pressure in live data with the ignition on and compare it with atmospheric pressure
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine warning lamp (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally
What the fault can affect2
- The signal from the intake pipe air pressure sensor is held at a constant value
- Load and air flow are calculated without the air pressure sensor signal
