What does this fault code mean?
The ECM measures the intake pressure with an air pressure sensor. The code is stored when the sensor reading is too low compared with the value the model calculates. The fault is thus an implausible, too-low reading from the sensor, and the control module then ignores that sensor signal for load and airflow calculations.
Possible causes
- Poor contact at the connector terminals
- Hose fitted incorrectly
- Air pressure sensor in the intake pipe has failed
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Look for leaks and loose connections at the intake pipe hoses
- 3Check that the sensor connector is firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the intake pressure in live data with the engine running; it should read lower than atmospheric pressure
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect2
- The sensor signal is replaced by a constant value
- Load and air flow are calculated independently of the air pressure sensor
