What does this fault code mean?
The ECM measures the intake pressure with an air pressure sensor and checks the sensor's DC voltage. The code is stored when the reading is wrong for a set time or over three or more consecutive drive cycles.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Air pressure sensor in the intake pipe is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, with the ignition on the intake pressure in live data should be roughly the same as the ambient pressure; if it differs clearly, the sensor is faulty
- 3Check that the connectors at the pressure sensor are free from contact resistance and oxidation
- 4With a multimeter, check that the signal wire is not shorted to ground
- 5If the fault remains and the reading differs, have a workshop replace the air pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine warning lamp (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- The control module uses a calculated value instead of the sensor reading
