What does this fault code mean?
The ECM measures the intake pressure with an air pressure sensor and checks the sensor's DC voltage. The code is stored when an incorrect value lasts for a set time or over three or more consecutive drive cycles.
Possible causes
- Break in the signal or ground wire
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Air pressure sensor in the intake pipe is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2With diagnostic equipment and the ignition on, compare the intake pressure in live data with ambient pressure; a clear difference suggests a faulty sensor
- 3Check that the connector at the sensor sits firmly and is free from oxidation and contact resistance
- 4With a multimeter, check that the signal wire is not shorted to supply voltage or ground
- 5If the fault remains and the sensor reading differs, have a workshop replace the sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine warning lamp (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- The sensor signal is replaced by a constant intake air pressure value
