What does this fault code mean?
The ECM monitors the B-side mass air flow sensor signal and stores the code when the signal is too high, too low or wrong. The fault here is that the B-circuit signal is too high.
Possible causes
- Break in the ground wire
- Damaged mass air flow sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the ground wire to the B-side mass air flow sensor has no break
- 3Check that the connectors at the B-side mass air flow sensor are fully engaged and free from oxidation and play
- 4With a multimeter, check that the signal wire is not shorted to supply voltage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the B-side mass air flow sensor
Symptoms you may notice2
- Engine warning lamp (check engine) lit or behaving abnormally
- The engine hesitates or surges when slowing down
What the fault can affect2
- Engine torque may be limited
- A calculated air mass value is used
