What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks that the mass air flow sensor signal is plausible. The code is stored when the signal is faulty, and here the voltage is too high. The comparison concerns the A-side and B-side mass air flow sensors.
Possible causes
- Break in the ground wire
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Damaged mass air flow sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connectors at the mass air flow sensors are clean and firmly seated
- 3With a multimeter, check that the ground wire to the mass air flow sensor has no break
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, compare the A-side and B-side sensor values in live data with the engine running
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the mass air flow sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The car lacks power and runs poorly
What the fault can affect2
- Engine torque may be limited
- A calculated air mass value is used
