What does this fault code mean?

The control module checks the PWM signal from the accelerator pedal position sensor. The fault code is set when the signal frequency is incorrect.

    Possible causes

    • Loose or high-resistance connections on the PWM signal wire
    • Interference on the PWM signal cable
    • Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor

    What you can do

    1. 1Read the fault code status with the ignition on. Check that the fault is not active when the test is finished, then clear the code
    2. 2Check the PWM signal wiring at the pedal and at the control module: the connections should be firmly seated and free from contact resistance
    3. 3Check whether anything could disturb the wire, such as chafing or running close to live cables
    4. 4If the connections are in order and the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the accelerator pedal position sensor

    Symptoms you may notice2

    • A message is shown in the information display
    • The accelerator pedal is ignored during braking

    What the fault can affect2

    • The control module uses the analogue signal via CAN instead
    • If the brake is pressed at the same time, the pedal position used is the released position

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
