What does this fault code mean?

This code concerns accelerator pedal position sensor A, where the signal from the sensor is too high. Contact faults or a damaged sensor can cause it, affecting throttle response.

    Possible causes

    • Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
    • Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor

    What you can do

    1. 1Read the diagnostic and fault status for the code with the ignition on. Clear the code and road test the vehicle to see whether it returns
    2. 2Check the connector at the accelerator pedal position sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
    3. 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the accelerator pedal signal in live data while pressing the pedal. A value that does not follow the pedal suggests the sensor is damaged
    4. 4If the connector is in order and the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the accelerator pedal position sensor

    Symptoms you may notice4

    • A message is shown in the display
    • Poor acceleration, the engine feels sluggish
    • The engine has poor performance and lacks power, especially when starting
    • The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly during acceleration

    What the fault can affect1

    • Engine torque is limited

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
