What does this fault code mean?
This code means the coolant is heating up at the wrong rate, with the thermostat stuck in the open position or a damaged engine temperature sensor as the cause.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine coolant temperature sensor
- Damaged thermostat
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code status with the ignition on and check whether the fault is active. Then clear the code and road test the vehicle
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the coolant temperature in live data during warm-up and see whether it rises normally
- 3If the connector at the engine temperature sensor is in order but the fault remains, have a workshop check and replace the thermostat if needed
