What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns the bank 1, sensor 1 oxygen sensor circuit, where the voltage is too low. The code can be set during engine braking with the accelerator released.
Possible causes
- Damaged heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code status with the ignition on and check whether the fault is active. Then clear the code and road test the vehicle
- 2Check the connector at the oxygen sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3With the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to check that the wires to the oxygen sensor are not open-circuited or short-circuited to ground
- 4If the connector is in order and the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine light comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- The control module uses a calculated value instead of the oxygen sensor signal
