What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns the bank 1, sensor 1 oxygen sensor circuit when the voltage is too high. It is set during engine braking with the accelerator released and can be caused by a damaged oxygen sensor.
Possible causes
- Damaged heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code status with the ignition on and check whether the fault is active. Then clear the code and road test the vehicle to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector at the oxygen sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3With the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not short-circuited to positive
- 4If the connector is in order and the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine light comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- A calculated value is used instead of the oxygen sensor signal
