What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns the bank 1, sensor 1 oxygen sensor circuit when the signal is too high. It happens with the engine under load while driving. The fault can be caused by the signal cable being short-circuited to supply voltage or by a damaged oxygen sensor.
Possible causes
- Signal cable shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
What you can do
- 1Read the diagnostic and fault status for the code with the ignition on. Clear the code and road test the vehicle
- 2With the connector unplugged at the oxygen sensor, use a multimeter to check that the signal cable is not short-circuited to positive
- 3Look for chafing on the signal cable where it may have touched a live supply
- 4If the wiring is in order and the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
