What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns the bank 1, sensor 1 oxygen sensor circuit, where the signal (message) is above the allowable range. It can be caused by an open circuit in the power supply, a signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage, or a damaged oxygen sensor.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the power supply
- Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
What you can do
- 1Read the diagnostic and fault status for the code with the ignition on. Clear the code and road test the vehicle
- 2Check the connector at the oxygen sensor for contact resistance and oxidation. Do not use rust solvent spray or grease in the connector
- 3With the connector unplugged, use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the oxygen sensor has no open circuit
- 4If the connector and wiring are in order and the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the oxygen sensor
