What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) checks the front oxygen sensor in bank 1. The code is set when the ECM registers that the sensor does not activate or activates too slowly.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the sensor connections
- Damaged front oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the oxygen sensor connector is fully engaged and free from oxidation; do not use rust solvent spray or grease
- 3If the fault remains after this check, try a new front oxygen sensor
