What does this fault code mean?

Although the code is named for a low voltage, it concerns the signal from the oxygen sensor in bank 1, sensor 2. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the signal and sets the code when it deviates from its permitted range, or when the sensor's pre-heating voltage disturbs the signal.

Signal wire shorted to the pre-heating circuit
Ground wire shorted to the pre-heating circuit
Wire shorted to ground
Damaged oxygen sensor

What you can do

1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
2Check the connector to the oxygen sensor for contact resistance and oxidation; do not use rust solvent spray or grease
3Use a multimeter to check that the signal and ground wires to the sensor are not shorted to each other or to ground
4If the connector and wires are intact, replace the oxygen sensor
