What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named for a high voltage, it concerns the rear oxygen sensor in bank 1, sensor 2, which reacts too slowly to changes in the fuel/air mixture. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the signal while driving and treats it as a fault when the sensor responds too slowly.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Damaged rear oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the rear oxygen sensor connector is fully engaged and free from oxidation
- 3If the fault remains after this check, try a new rear oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
