What does this fault code mean?
The front oxygen sensor in bank 2 sits before the catalytic converter and gives the engine control module a basis for controlling the fuel/air mixture. The control module checks the sensor's signal and sets the code when the sensor does not activate or responds too slowly.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Damaged front oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check the connector at the front sensor in bank 2 for contact resistance and oxidation; do not use rust solvent spray or grease
- 3If the fault remains, try a new front oxygen sensor in bank 2
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor performance
- Check engine light (MIL) on
