What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) checks the front oxygen sensor in bank 2, the cylinder row furthest to the rear near the passenger compartment. The code is set when the control module registers that the sensor does not activate at all or activates too slowly.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Damaged front oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check the connector at the sensor in bank 2 for contact resistance and oxidation; do not use rust solvent spray or grease
- 3If the fault remains after this check, try a new front oxygen sensor in bank 2
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine light (MIL) on
