What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the rear oxygen sensor in bank 2 and sets the code if the limit values have not been reached after a certain time, even though the heater has reached its values. The test requires the heater to be active and the car to have had at least one fuel cut-off.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Damaged rear oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check the connector to the rear sensor in bank 2 for contact resistance and oxidation; do not use rust solvent spray or grease
- 3If the connector is clean and intact, replace the rear oxygen sensor in bank 2
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine light (MIL) on
What the fault can affect1
- Control with the rear oxygen sensor is switched off
