What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) follows the signal from the rear oxygen sensor in bank 2, sensor 2, and sets the code when the limit values are not reached after a certain time, even though the heater has reached its values. The code concerns a high voltage in the signal from the rear sensor.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged rear oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the rear sensor has no contact with battery voltage
- 3Check the connector to the sensor; if it is clean and intact but the fault remains, replace the rear oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine light (MIL) on
What the fault can affect1
- Control with the rear oxygen sensor is switched off
