What does this fault code mean?
Each fuel injector has a built-in fuel temperature sensor, and the engine control module (ECM) receives the temperatures via LIN communication. The control module compares the values with permitted limits and sets the code when cylinder 4's injector reports a temperature above the highest permitted value.
Possible causes
- Loose connection or oxidation in the connections
- Cylinder 4's injector is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes; if there are codes for communication with the fuel injectors, fix those first, as this code is then a secondary fault
- 2Check the connectors to the fuel injector for cylinder 4 for looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Clear the code, road test the car and read the codes again to see whether it comes back
- 4If no fault is found in these checks, the fuel injector for cylinder 4 must be replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The control module takes the reading from another injector instead
