What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the fuel temperature sensor and compares its value with the engine, intake, coolant and boost pressure sensor temperature after the engine has been off for a long time. The code is set if the value deviates too much from these. The control module then uses the signal from the engine coolant temperature sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connectors
- Damaged fuel temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel temperature in live data after the car has stood still for a long time and compare it with the engine temperature
- 3Check that the connector to the fuel pressure sensor is fully engaged and free from oxidation
- 4If the fault remains after this check, have a workshop replace the fuel pressure sensor
