What does this fault code mean?

The control module (ECM) receives the temperature from each injector over LIN communication and compares the values with a lowest permitted value. The code is set when the temperature from the injector on cylinder 2 falls below that lowest permitted value. The causes are a poor connection or a damaged injector.

    Possible causes

    • Loose or oxidised connection to the injector
    • Damaged injector on cylinder 2

    What you can do

    1. 1If there are codes for missing or faulty communication with the injectors, fix those first, as this code is then a follow-on fault
    2. 2Check the injector connectors, especially on cylinder 2, for looseness and oxidation
    3. 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the temperature from each injector in live data and see whether cylinder 2 is low compared with the others
    4. 4Clear the code and run the engine to see whether it returns
    5. 5If the fault remains after these checks, the injector on cylinder 2 has to be replaced, which is a workshop job

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • No noticeable symptoms for the driver

    What the fault can affect1

    • The control module uses the temperature from one of the other injectors instead

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
