What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) checks fuel pressure on the low-pressure side using the fuel pressure sensor, which is built into the same unit as the fuel temperature sensor. The code is set when pressure varies less than the limit allows, meaning the signal is not moving as it should. The fault may be caused by internal damage in the sensor.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the fuel pressure sensor
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then run the engine to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector at the fuel pressure sensor for looseness, oxidation and damage
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel pressure in live data and check that the value changes when the engine is loaded
- 4If the fault remains after these checks, a workshop with diagnostic equipment should check the sensor
Symptoms you may notice3
- The Check engine lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
- Poor performance and lack of power, especially when the car is pulling away
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly on acceleration, when slowing down or at steady speed
What the fault can affect1
- The high-pressure fuel pump is switched off
