What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) reads the output of pressure sensor A in the fuel distribution pipe. The code is set when the signal from the sensor does not change when the pump control changes. The fault is tested after a while of normal driving and may be noticed as the car hesitating or losing power.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connectors at the sensor
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
- Damaged fuel pump unit
What you can do
- 1Check the pressure sensor connector and its connections for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Clear the code and drive for a while on the road to see whether it returns
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel pressure in live data and see whether it follows the throttle position while driving
- 4If the fault remains, a workshop with diagnostic equipment should check the sensor and the fuel pump
Symptoms you may notice4
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly on acceleration, when slowing down or at steady speed
- Poor performance and lack of power, even when pulling away
- The engine may stall while driving
- The Check engine lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect2
- The fuel pressure is held at a constant value
- The fuel pump control signal is set to a calculated value
