ECM-P019164 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance. Algorithm Based Failures. Signal plausibility failure
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsC30 (2007–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) controls the fuel pressure in the fuel rail through the fuel pump and a pressure regulator valve, and checks whether the sensor signal is plausible. The code is set when the pressure does not change as expected or shows an offset while the engine is switched off. The signal is therefore judged to be implausible.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation in the connections to the pressure regulator valve
- Clogged fuel filter
- Damaged fuel pressure regulator valve
- Damaged fuel pump
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read and clear the code, then start the engine to see whether it returns
- 3Check the connectors at the pressure regulator valve for oxidation and looseness
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel pressure in live data with the engine switched off and the ignition on, and see whether the value stays steady
- 5If the fault remains, a workshop should check the fuel pump and the fuel filter
Symptoms you may notice2
- Message in the display together with a warning symbol
- Poor performance and lack of power
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque may be limited
