What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) monitors the signal from the fuel pressure sensor. The code is set when the control module receives too low a signal from the sensor. This can cause a loss of power, and the control module then uses a calculated value for the fuel pressure instead.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation in the connectors, and looseness in the connections
- Signal wire shorted to earth
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
- Open circuit in the signal wire or the voltage supply
- Clogged fuel filter
- Damaged fuel pump
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read and clear the code, then start the engine to see whether it returns
- 3Check the connector at the fuel pressure sensor for contact resistance, oxidation and open circuits
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not shorted to earth
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel pressure in live data with the engine running and see whether the value stays at a clearly low level
- 6If the fault remains, a workshop should check the voltage supply to the fuel pressure sensor and the fuel filter
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor performance and lack of power
- Message in the display together with a warning symbol
What the fault can affect2
- The control module uses a calculated value
- Engine torque may be limited
