What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) monitors the high-pressure side of the fuel system through the signal from the high-pressure sensor. The code concerns a fault on the high-pressure side and is set when the control module finds that the signal is too low.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to earth
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Looseness in the wiring
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the signal earth wire
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read and clear the code, then start the engine to see whether it returns
- 3Check the high-pressure sensor connector for looseness, oxidation and damage
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal and earth wires to the sensor have no break
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not shorted to earth (the body)
- 6If the fault remains, a workshop should check the sensor and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- The Check engine lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
- Poor performance and lack of power
What the fault can affect1
- The fuel pressure is held at a constant value
