What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) monitors the signal from the fuel pressure sensor and compares it with the pressure that is expected. The code is set when the signal from the sensor is too high, and the control module then uses a calculated value instead. The fault can cause a loss of power while driving.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
- Damaged fuel pressure regulator valve
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then start the engine to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the connector at the fuel pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not in contact with battery voltage
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: read the pressure in live data during a test drive and see whether the value is high when the engine is loaded
- 6If the fault remains, a workshop should check the sensor, the regulator valve and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor performance and lack of power while driving
- Message in the display together with a warning symbol
What the fault can affect2
- The control module uses a calculated value
- Engine torque may be limited
