What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) monitors the pressure in the fuel distribution pipe with the pressure sensor and checks that the pressure is within permitted limits. The code is set when the signal from the sensor is judged to be implausible. The fault is erratic or irregular, meaning sporadic, and it may only be present some of the time.
Possible causes
- Loose connections
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read and clear the code, then start the engine to see whether it returns
- 3Check the pressure sensor connector, especially if it can be moved, and look for oxidation
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel pressure in live data and see whether the value jumps irregularly while the engine runs
- 5If the fault remains, a workshop should check the sensor and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice2
- Message in the display together with a warning symbol
- Poor performance and lack of power
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque may be limited
