What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) keeps an eye on engine oil temperature. The code is set when the reading from the oil temperature sensor is faulty, in this case too high.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged oil temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read and clear the code, then see whether it returns after a while of driving
- 3Check the oil temperature sensor connector for damage and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not shorted to voltage, with the ignition on
- 5If the fault remains, a workshop with diagnostic equipment should check the sensor and its wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
