What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) checks the temperature signals from the injectors against calibrated limits. The code is set when the temperature from the injector on cylinder 3 rises above the highest permitted value, and the control module then uses the temperature from one of the other injectors.
Possible causes
- Poor connection with looseness or oxidation
- Damaged injector on cylinder 3
What you can do
- 1If there are other codes for missing or faulty communication with the injectors, this code is a follow-on fault, so those should be fixed first
- 2Check the injector connectors, especially on cylinder 3, that they are secure and free from oxidation
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the temperature from each injector in live data and see whether cylinder 3 reads high compared with the others
- 4If no fault is found in these checks, the injector on cylinder 3 may need to be replaced, which a workshop does
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The temperature from one of the other injectors is used instead
