System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) supplies the injectors with a voltage well above the battery voltage and checks how quickly the piezo injectors discharge. The code is set when the discharge time is unreasonable.
Possible causes
- The injector return line is damaged or blocked
- Loose connection, or contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Signal wire shorted to earth
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read and clear the code, then start the engine to see whether it returns
- 3Check the injector connectors for looseness and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the injectors have no break and are not shorted to earth or voltage
- 5If the fault remains, a workshop with diagnostic equipment should check the injectors and the return line
Symptoms you may notice2
- Message in the display together with a warning symbol
- Poor performance and lack of power
What the fault can affect1
- Engine output and speed may be limited
