What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) controls when and for how long the injector on cylinder 1 opens and closes. The code is set when the control signal to the injector is out of range or absent, and cylinder 1 may then get too little or no injection.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the injector connector
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the voltage supply to the injector
- Signal wire shorted to earth
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read and clear the code, then start the engine to see whether it returns
- 3Check the connector to the injector on cylinder 1 for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the injector on cylinder 1 have no break and are not shorted to earth or voltage
- 5If the fault remains, a workshop with diagnostic equipment should check the injector on cylinder 1 and its wiring

- The environmental warning lamp lights up
- The engine does not run on all cylinders
- The engine fails to start although cranking is normal
- Poor performance and lack of power
- The engine hesitates or runs unevenly at idle

- Lambda control is blocked
- Injection on cylinder 1 stops
- Engine output and speed may be limited
