What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) controls the injection timing and duration for the injector on cylinder 2 by opening and closing it. The code is set when the control signal to the injector is out of range or absent. Injection on cylinder 2 may then stop.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the injector connector
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the voltage supply to the injector
- Loose connection in the connections
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read and clear the code, then start the engine to see whether it returns
- 3Check the connector to the injector on cylinder 2 for contact resistance, oxidation and looseness
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the injector on cylinder 2 have no break and are not shorted to earth or voltage
- 5If the fault remains, a workshop with diagnostic equipment should check the injector on cylinder 2 and the wires to it
Symptoms you may notice5
- The environmental warning lamp lights up and the engine does not run on all cylinders
- Cranking is fine, but the engine does not start
- Message in the display together with a warning symbol
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly on acceleration or at steady speed
- The Check engine lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect3
- Lambda control is blocked
- Injection on cylinder 2 stops
- Engine output and speed may be limited
